One of the most noticeable changes to DIRECTX 12 is the update to Direct3D that massively increases the chance for developers to make games work better for newer hardware.
[EDIT: underscore and bold added for those who posted later and seem to have missed the main points and download links.
- The DirectX end-user installation includes the D3DX, HLSL Compiler, XInput, XAudio, and Managed DirectX 1.1 components. Note that the DirectX Runtime (Direct3D, DirectInput, DirectSound) is not part of this package as it is included as part of the Windows operating system, and therefore cannot be installed or uninstalled.

This DX9 error is common with games that require Direct Play to be activated, so there is really no need to stuff
around reinstalling DirectX . I had Direct Play activated from day one Win10, so missed this erroneous error message. ]
DX 11.2 indicates the DX 'Feature level' your graphics card is capable of running.
- It's a common misconception that Win7/8/8.1 has only DX 11, and Win10 has only DX12.
Win7/8/8.1/10 all have of DX - 9,10 and 11.
- The following is a list of the Direct X .dll's you will have when the files are up to date.
Go to the Windows / System 32 folder, (and SysWOW64 if you have 64bit).
They are in alphabetical order and will start with d3dx9 - 24 > 43 . Then d3dx10 - 33 > 43 & finally d3dx11 - 42 > 43.
There should also be - d3d9, d3d10 and d3d11 (among others).
These come before the D3Dcompilers-33>43+47.
- Win10 currently has only two d3d 12 files. One in System 32,and SysWOW64 .
- There are more DX files, but these are most of the graphics related Direct X .dll's
- When using a 'clean' Windows 10 (7 or 8) install it's advisable to run the DirectX Web Installer to 'update' DX.
Note that the Web Installer only installs 'missing' files and does not overwrite corrupt files as does
the full DX Redist installer.

@ People posting below who are still banging on about DX9.0c .. Read ..
- Another common misconception is that you need to install DX 9.0c to run older DX9 games. Not so.
This version has been superseded by the DX Redist (June 2010) which has all of the DX9.0c files, and more.
This installer is the best option if DirectX files are corrupted.

Note - This is a two step process. The installer download unpacks files to a location of your choice.
You then open the folder and find the DXSETP.exe and run that to reinstall DirectX.
Once the reinstall is complete you can delete the folder the files were unpacked to.
- Another reason for DirectX errors is if your graphics processor/accelerator (either Integrated graphics or graphics card)
does not meet the specifications of the game.
- Outdated audio drivers can also cause DirectX errors in some cases.
However.. (If you are using a disk based version of FIFA 07)
FIFA '07 may be a victim of a malware that MS has built into Win10. This game uses SafeDisk copy protection,
which uses a driver titled secdrv.sys which is being blocked by MS.
I'm not sure, but this game may use a version of SafeDisk that does not rely on the secdrv.sys driver.
You can read more details in my post at --this thread--

All modern Windows operating systems include DirectX by default, so you probably won't ever need to install DirectX manually.
However, Microsoft has been known to release updated versions of DirectX, and installing the latest updates might be the fix to a DirectX problem you're having—such as dsetup.dll errors—or may give performance increases in your games and graphics programs.
Follow the steps below to update DirectX in any version of Windows. Installing DirectX will take less than 15 minutes.
Depending on the version of Windows you're using, you might not be in need of a new version of DirectX. See the section below these steps to confirm that DirectX will work for your computer. If you're not sure which DirectX version your computer has installed right now, there are instructions for doing that at the very bottom of this page.
Visit the DirectX download page on Microsoft's site.
Windows batch file programming pdf. Click the red Download button and then the blue Next button to save the setup file to your computer.
Microsoft will recommend a couple of their other products after clicking the download link, but you can uncheck those boxes if you'd rather not download them. If you skip downloading those, the Next button will be renamed to No thanks and continue DirectX End-User Runtime Web Installer.
Open the dxwebsetup.exe file and complete the DirectX installation by following directions from Microsoft's website or from the DirectX installation program. It should take less than a minute to install.
This DirectX download will install on Windows 10, Windows 8, Windows 7, Windows Vista, or Windows XP. Whatever DirectX files are missing will be replaced as necessary.
See the next section below for more information about DirectX in specific versions of Windows.
Restart your computer, even if you're not prompted to do so.
After restarting your computer, test to see if updating to the latest version of DirectX corrected the problem you were having.
DirectX Windows Versions
All versions of Windows do not support all versions of DirectX. Here's more on how each version of DirectX works across the Windows family.
DirectX 12 is included with Windows 10 and is only supported in that version of Windows. Updates to DirectX 12 related files are only available through Windows Update. No standalone version of DirectX 12 is available.
DirectX 11.4 & 11.3 are only supported in Windows 10. As with DirectX 12.0, updates are only provided through Windows Update.
DirectX 11.2 is supported in Windows 10 and Windows 8 (8.1+) only. Any updates to DirectX 11.2 related files are made available in Windows Update in those versions of Windows. There is no standalone download available for DirectX 11.2.
DirectX 11.1 is supported in Windows 10 and Windows 8. Windows 7 (SP1) is supported as well but only after installing the Platform Update for Windows 7.
Microsoft Windows 10 Download
DirectX 11.0 is supported in Windows 10, Windows 8, and Windows 7. Support for Windows Vista is available but only after a platform update. Get the 32-bit version here or the 64-bit one here.
DirectX 10 is supported in Windows 10, Windows 8, Windows 7, and Windows Vista.
Direct3d Driver Download Windows 10
DirectX 9 is supported in Windows 10, Windows 8, Windows 7, Windows Vista, and Windows XP. If you have a program that calls for a DirectX 9 file in Windows 10 or Windows 8, installing the downloadable version (the process above) is the way to solve that problem—it will not 'downgrade' your DirectX 10/11/12 install! This is also the latest version of DirectX that's compatible with Windows XP.
