Archon Chess Game
Archon: The Light and the Dark:: On the surface, Archon appears similar to chess, but there are a number of significant changes. While the board is similar to a chessboard and the various pieces are similarly designed to have various offsetting abilities, when one piece attempts to take another the removal of the targeted piece is not automatic. Archon is a Chess-like game where the pieces 'battle' for squares in an action arcade sequence. The goal is to either destroy every one of the enemy's units, or capture the 4 'power points' on the board. While the two sides, the Light and the Dark, have similar units, their arcade sequence abilities are different.

Description of Archon: The Light and the Dark
Introduction from the manual: 'Archon is a contest of action and strategy between opposing forces wrought from myth and legend. The Light Side and the Dark Side are equal in force, balanced in strength. Though they are not identical, their goals are the same. Each side exists to conquer, by eliminating all of the opposing pieces or controlling the five power points.'
Archon is a great classic I loved back then on the C64. The game is an amazingly original blend of chess, fantasy strategy, puzzle, and even a bit of action. Hard to describe-- but must be played to be believe. Similar to The Sentinel, Archon is one of the rarest of all classics: addictive gameplay that truly stands the test of time.
Graphics and controls are poor on the PC version, though (CGA only), and so I really suggest trying to get hold of the original Atari or C64 release, or take a look at the updated Archon Ultra released years after this one (although unfortunately the true sequel, Archon II, was never released for the PC). A must-have!

Either it died (likely I guess) or something else (maybe a bios problem) Maybe you can help me by telling me how you went about updating the bios. My internal blue tooth adapter used to work fine, but now it does not. Bluetooth drivers for toshiba satellite a215. I've checked and the wireless switch in front of the LT is turned on and I'm connected wirelessly to a router besides.

Agree with Billy. Such a great game, and it held on a single 5 1/4 floppy disk. I remember trying to win without losing a single knight. Did it once or twice..

Great chess style game with arcade style battling when pieces clash. Different pieces have different attack styles. I did much prefer the sequel though.

This is a cool chess-like game where pieces/characters/fighters have special skills and attack each other in animation when they fight. I spent hours on this on my Commodore 64.
